This past Friday, I filled in as a sub for the Swing Kids.  Collectively, we played inspired-ball and wound up with a 17-9 victory.  Everyone played solidly. 

After the game, I felt relieved and happy for them.  Like the Cannons, the Swing Kids have been roughed up pretty bad this season.  But through it all, they showed fight and heart each week. 

Later that night, Ali and I headed to Savage’s birthday party.  Unable to consume any alcohol (not that I am a big drinker anyways), we milked my Diet Coke for 2 hours as I watched the Savage down drink after drink.  Amazingly, he tells me Doris was the one that was most messed up.  Doesn’t surprise me, I guess… especially when she downs two raspberry kamikaze’s in twenty minutes.

On Saturday, Ali and I did a jog/hike at Sawyer Trail.  Then, we headed out to Half Moon Bay for a nice lunch.  The weather was terrific so we decided on a long drive along the coast.  Despite being worn from the jog, the warmth of the sun fueled me through the day.  It was a nice day to get away.

The Cannons game on Sunday was a scorcher.  Unfortunately, we were the ones scorched.  It still perplexes me that there is always an infield error to start off each game.  As the game went on, my mind drifted away.  For the third time this season, I wanted to be somewhere else.  Playing with this team has rid my enjoyment of softball on the weekends.  It could be that I relinquished my managerial duties to another teammate, and that I don’t agree with his "play loose" methodology.  Whatever the case, I’m not having fun, and it is translating to my performance.  Sad to say, but it may be time for me to leave this team.
